Fred Sarkis has served the North American Pharmacy Industry with innovative Blood Pressure Management products and services for over 20 years. Forming a Distributorship in 1987, Fred’s first company introduced automated blood pressure kiosks to pharmacies across New York State and Canada. With a focus on quality equipment and satisfaction guaranteed service programs, Fred’s company rapidly penetrated the New York State pharmacy market in a few short years and became the dominant force across Canada by the mid-1990’s. In 1997, the company was named to “Rochester’s Top 100” privately held companies and continued its explosive growth throughout the 1990’s.
In the year 2000, in order to better serve the company’s existing pharmacy customers and their valued patients, and to expand his ability to serve both the North American and the international pharmacy communities, Fred launched a second company, PharmaSmart International, Inc. That company would design, manufacture and distribute high tech, automated blood pressure systems to further enhance the opportunity to assist pharmacists, physicians and patients in the detection and management of hypertension. Armed with three (3) patents, improved accuracy, and a full blown “pharmacy services approach” including a pharmacist Certified Education (CE) program and on-line data management, his second company was named to both “Rochester’s Top 100” and to North America’s “Inc. 5000” in 2009, 2010 and 2011 and they are poised to dominate the North American pharmacy market for years to come.
Fred and his team acknowledged the critical role that Pharmacists and Technicians play throughout everyday pharmacy. The idea of developing a Hypertension Management Tool, “The Blood Pressure Management” Smart Card and the Blood Pressure Tracker (an On-line Health IT Portal) became a reality with the transition of his company as it evolved into a pharmacy focused blood pressure management program. The “Blood Pressure Management Smart Card” and Blood Pressure Tracker now represent one of the few pharmacy services tools that a Pharmacist provides patients to better manage their hypertension.
